Irish Beer - Consider The Choices!

Beware the ides of March, especially considering that March 17th is St Patrick’s Day. As that infamous day of celebration nears us our thoughts drift back to the old country (not as old as roman times, of course). Dear old Ireland…..potatoes, potatoes, potatoes, whiskey and beer…………ahhh, Irish beer. Consider the choices:

BeerGuinness Black Lager gives the rich flavor of a darker beer paired with the lighter mouth feel and finish of a lager. It's brewed with 100% malted barley. Moderate roasted malt flavors with a bitter-chocolate note that lasts into the finish. 12 PK Bottle Sale Price $12.99

BeerGuinness Extra Stout is for those who crave the more robust finish associated with the darker malts. The best selling stout in the world is also one of the finest. Relatively low in alcohol, thick, rich, and mild. 12 PK Bottle Sale Price $12.99

BeerGuinness Draught is the smoother more manageable stout that is the most popular for beer drinkers. The draught in can or bottle is also the preferred component in the well-known Black and Tan. 12 PK Bottle Sale Price $12.99

To create your Black and Tan first pour approximately 2/3rds of your glass full of an amber ale or darker pale ale such as Bass –which is the standard. Then use a tablespoon held over the glass and slowly pour your Guinness into the spoon until it overflows into the glass. Continue to pour slowly into the spoon trying not to disturb the underlying beer. The Guinness will float on top of the other beer as long as it is not introduced violently into the glass.

On SaleHarp Irish Lager presents the lighter side of Irish beer, lighter in taste and lighter in finish. It's a pale lager brand created in 1960 by the Guinness Brewery in their Dundalk brewery. It is a leading lager brand in Ireland. 12 PK Bottle Sale Price $12.99

On SaleSmithwick’s ale has a darker presentation than most amber ales which leads to a fuller taste and smoother finish. Smithwick's is from Kilkenny in Ireland. Smithwick's is listed in the top five best tasting beers by the McHale beer rating club of Ireland. 12 PK Bottle Sale Price $12.99

On SaleMurphy's Stout is another classic from Ireland with a rich fuller taste and smoother finish. Sweet toffee and mild roasted coffee flavors really come through while still maintaining the big body you would expect in an Irish Stout. Red 6 PK Bottle Sale Price $6.99. Stout 4 PK Can Sale Price $5.99

BeerO’Haras Irish Stout and Irish Red are also available in 4-packs both brewed in traditional Irish style. The red is more generously hopped and provides a typical dry finish. Brewed in Carlow, Ireland. See store for pricing.

BeerMagners Irish Cider is the lighter alternative to Irish beer; it has a crisp, clean taste which is easy on the palette with a slightly sweet finish compared to most other cider’s dry finish. See store for pricing.

The fruits of Ireland await, and we’re not talking about the potatoes –we’re talking about the beer. Enjoy the day and celebrate with all the Irish folk but be careful to not drink too much because the leprechauns are a little more feisty than the pink elephants we usually see.
